How to Be More Specific (and Stop Being Vague)
Vague is comfortable to write and hard to read. Specific is the opposite — and it's what makes people believe you.

Why vague writing fails
Abstractions like "we're making good progress", "there were some challenges", or "we should improve this soon" are easy to write because they commit to nothing. But they force the reader to guess what you mean, and they quietly signal that you might not know the specifics yourself.
Concrete specifics do the opposite: they're recalled better (the concreteness effect), they're easier to act on, and they read as competence, because only someone who actually knows can be specific.
