Lead with their problem, not your idea
The instinct is to open with the idea and how clever it is. But the listener doesn't care about your idea until they see it solves something they care about. Open with the problem or opportunity in their terms — "We're losing a day a week to manual reporting" — so that by the time the idea arrives, they already want a solution.
A pitch is an argument that your idea is the answer to their question. Establish the question first.
