English Interview Practice for Non-Native Speakers

Interviewing in your second language feels like being tested on two things at once. Prepare the right way and you're mostly being tested on one.

What interviewers actually judge (it isn't your accent)

Ask hiring managers what sank a candidate and you'll hear the same things: couldn't give a direct answer, rambled, couldn't explain their own work simply. You will almost never hear 'their accent was too strong'. Interviewers forgive accents within minutes; they don't forgive not being able to follow you.

This should redirect your preparation. Every hour spent worrying about pronunciation is an hour not spent on the thing being graded: whether your answers have a point, a shape, and an end.
